Mrs Veronica Falodun, the wife of the late Alagamo of Agamo in Akure North Local Government Area, Oba Kehinde Falodun, has shared how she managed to escape death during the attack that led to the killing of her husband.
Speaking on the sad incident, the widow explained that she had to run into the bush when the attackers stormed their community and started shooting. According to her, the gunmen invaded the monarch’s palace in the evening and began firing shots which made residents run for safety.
She said the attackers went straight to where the monarch was attending to visitors and tried to drag him away from the palace. The monarch however refused to follow them, insisting that he could not be taken away.
Mrs Falodun said when the gunmen noticed that their bullets were not harming the monarch, they forcefully dragged him out of the palace to the main road. After the attackers left, the community members later found the lifeless body of the monarch lying on the road with serious injuries on his head.
A community leader, Chief Busayo Odeyemi, also described the attack as shocking, noting that the peaceful farming community had never experienced such violence before. He called on security agencies to ensure that those behind the killing are arrested and made to face the law.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State Police Command has assured residents of the community that efforts are ongoing to arrest those responsible for the crime. The State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, who visited the area alongside other security chiefs, said a manhunt has already been launched for the attackers.
He added that the police, in partnership with other security agencies, will do everything possible to identify and prosecute those involved in the killing. Please Share 🙏…
