The conversation gained momentum after Nigerian socialite and fashion influencer Rahman Jago shared a clip of Burna Boy on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter), in which the singer is heard saying “Alhamdulillah,” an Arabic expression meaning “Praise be to God.”
The short video quickly went viral, prompting fans to speculate whether Burna Boy’s frequent use of Islamic phrases in public and in his music hinted at a formal change in faith. Former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad also commented when asked about the reports on 𝕏.
