A young man fought off thieves to recover his phone in Kabete, Kenya

Kabete, Kenya: A young man from Kabete missed death by a whisker when he managed to recover his phone from thieves only for them to turn on him and tell on him to an angry mob, who started baying for his blood.

The man who was speaking in a video shared on the Tukae Rada Facebook page shared that he was coming from Kabate, headed to the University of Nairobi, when he decided to alert after the traffic jam became too much.
“I alighted at the Museum Roundabout and called my sister; we were still talking when I felt a person grab my phone and he started running away. I just remembered that I use my iPhone for work and it has everything that I need for content creation,” he said.

“All my deals would have ended, and for now I have a collaboration. How would I have created videos? I have built my platform to 14 000 followers. I threw a stone at him and destabilised him, then ran after him and grabbed him; I started hitting and he released the phone,” he added.
The young man thought that he was now safe only to learn that the young man was in cahoots with another thief who was on a motorcycle. The latter disembarked from the motorcycle. and they started running after the owner of the phone.
“They took stones and started shouting thief, thief while running after him, and I ran all the way to UoN; I thought I was going to die. I was hit by a motorcycle and fell down, then people started beating me, and police cocked a gun, and that is when I flashed my phone and showed my wallpaper. The two started running away with police in pursuit,” he said.
The Tukae Rada page said that in such situations one should also offer to use their password to open their phone. In such cases it is always a gang, so be very careful.
