From Ghana to Kenya, women who interacted with the Russian man were left embarrassed and humiliated after he leaked their videos. Some came out to speak, denying having intimacy with him, sharing their experiences after visiting his apartment.
After public outrage, the Ghanaian government is seeking to hold the Russian national accountable for sharing intimate videos of multiple women extradited back to the country and charged in court.

In Kenya, the DCI launched a probe into a viral scandal involving a Russian national and unsuspecting Kenyan women, some married ones.
The agency condemned his tech-driven privacy breaches as gender-based violence and is urging victims to come forward with evidence.
The DCI also cautioned against resharing of the videos by the public.
Did Yaytseslav break marriages or did he reveal them?
The Russian man has been a topic of discussion on social media, with everyone sharing their opinions, and a relationship expert has shared his two cents on the trending matter.
Allan Lawrence opined that the issue is not about the Russian man, but vulnerability.
“Did he destroy marriages or did he expose fractures that were already there? We must be mature enough as a society to separate the messenger from the mirror. If someone cheats “that easily,” this is rarely their first moral negotiation. Impulsivity of that magnitude does not emerge overnight. It is cultivated quietly through smaller compromises. Psychologically speaking, behavior under opportunity reveals internal architecture. Character is not tested in scarcity. It is tested in availability. The issue is not about the foreigner. The issue is vulnerability,” he shared.

Lawrence explained that the women’s actions or behaviour during their encounter with the Russian man could be because of many factors, urging the public not to judge them.
“When someone can follow a stranger home within minutes, it tells us something deeper than scandal. It speaks of emotional emptiness, financial desperation. Low self-worth, a distorted understanding of value, and in some cases, addiction to validation,” he explained.
The relationship expert opined that no marriage collapses because of a camera, it collapses because of cracks that pre-existed the lens.
“Why would a married woman gamble her safety and reputation for what appears to be quick money? Why would risk feel smaller than consequence? The answer is not just poverty of pocket. It is poverty of identity. When worth becomes attached to external validation or foreign currency, discernment weakens. Greed is rarely about money alone. It is often about feeling chosen, desired, elevated. And when self-esteem is fragile, attention feels like opportunity. We will likely see them again. Not because foreigners are hunting. But because vulnerability is visible,” he shared.

Lawrence said this conversation must not become gender war but must become societal introspection.
“Marriage is never destroyed by outsiders. It is weakened by internal neglect long before outsiders arrive. The Russian man did not invent temptation. He exploited it. If we respond only with outrage, we miss the lesson. If we respond with reflection, we grow. Scandal exposes while wisdom rebuilds,” he said.

In another story, Choice Kinoti, one of the women in the viral Russian man videos, broke her silence.
In some of the videos, the Russian man filmed the Kenyan woman doing household chores in his house, including washing his boxers.
In another video, Choice pestered the Russian man to take her on holiday for her birthday, but he told her to pay for her own ticket and not depend on him.
In an interview with 2Mbili, Choice narrated her encounter with Yaytseslav Truhov, admitting she was shocked to see herself trending online.
