Carloha Nigeria, the authorised distributor of Chery Automobile vehicles, has officially unveiled the Chery Himla pickup truck, a new heavy-duty mobility solution designed to support Nigeria’s growing commercial, agricultural, and logistics sectors.
The unveiling ceremony, held in Lagos recently, drew motoring entrepreneurs, fleet operators, and automobile enthusiasts eager to witness the brand’s entry into Nigeria’s competitive market.
The launch, which expands the number of Chery’s exports out of China, also positioned the Himla as a productivity tool for business owners seeking efficiency and durability.
Speaking at the unveiling, the Managing Director of Carloha Nigeria, Mr Sola Adigun, described the Himla as a milestone product aimed at empowering Nigerian enterprises.
“Today’s launch represents a key milestone for us. The Himla has been engineered to enhance efficiency and productivity for security outfits, farmers, logistics operators, entrepreneurs and several other commercial users who require reliability and performance every day,” he said.
He stated that one of the standout features of the pickup is its class-leading 1,276-litre cargo bed measuring 1,530 mm by 1,620 mm by 515 mm, designed to accommodate standard industrial pallets and enable what the company calls ‘one-trip loading’. He added that engineers optimised the chassis and suspension layout to minimise wheel arch intrusion, creating a flatter cargo space that allows users to transport larger loads efficiently while reducing operational costs.
Adigun said integrated side and rear steps further simplify loading and unloading in demanding work environments. He further said, ‘Built on a high-strength ladder-frame platform with reinforced rear-spring suspension, the Himla delivers a rated payload exceeding 1,000 kilograms while maintaining stability under heavy-duty conditions.’ The vehicle also boasts a three-tonne towing capacity, making it suitable for hauling construction equipment, refrigerated containers, agricultural machinery, and caravans across diverse industries.”
The company stressed that, inside the cabin, the vehicle offers premium leather seating, a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, and a 9.2-inch digital dashboard display, alongside improved rear-seat comfort aimed at long-distance travel. Higher-end models also feature advanced driver assistance systems, cargo anchoring points, and enhanced safety technologies intended to balance utility with driver convenience.
Guests at the launch were given hands-on experience through simulated terrain test drives designed to demonstrate the pickup’s real-world capabilities. Participants tested the Himla’s rough-road 4×4 performance, hill approach and descent handling, towing strength, load-carrying stability, in-cabin quietness, seat comfort, rear passenger seating, and water-wading capability.
The General Manager of Marketing at Carloha Nigeria, Felix Mahan, also described the Himla as central to Chery’s global pickup vision, saying, “The Himla combines class-leading cargo capacity, hardcore load capability, advanced technology and climate-adapted engineering.” It is designed to serve Nigerian entrepreneurs not just as a vehicle but as a trusted business partner.”
