Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to discuss security challenges and major development projects in the state.
The meeting, held behind closed doors, focused on strengthening cooperation between the Kano State Government and the Federal Government, particularly in addressing insecurity in parts of the state.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf briefed the president on the deteriorating security situation in some local government areas. He specifically drew attention to the recent killing of a housewife and her children, describing the incident as tragic and highlighting the need for stronger federal intervention to protect lives and property.
The governor highlighted the efforts of the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch Corps in supporting conventional security agencies and called for enhanced collaboration with federal security institutions to improve safety across the state.
Yusuf also outlined his administration’s development priorities, emphasising mega infrastructure projects aimed at boosting economic growth and employment. He commended President Tinubu for the federal government’s intervention on the Wujuwuju Road, describing the project as critical to unlocking economic opportunities in Kano.
The governor further appealed for federal support to accelerate ongoing projects and ensure Kano State fully benefits from federal programmes and investments.
In response, President Tinubu assured Governor Yusuf of the federal government’s commitment to partnering with Kano State to address insecurity and promote sustainable development.
