President Bola Tinubu has expressed condolences to renowned author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie following the death of her son, Nkanu Nnamdi.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the President also sympathised with Adichie’s husband, Ivara Esege, and other members of the family, describing the loss as a deeply painful tragedy.
Tinubu said the death of a child is one of the most devastating experiences a parent can endure, noting that he spoke from personal experience.
“As a parent myself who has suffered the loss of a loved one, no grief is as devastating as losing a child,” the President said.
He conveyed his solidarity with the family during this period of mourning, adding that he shared in their sorrow and prayed for strength and comfort for them.
The President also paid tribute to Adichie’s global impact as a writer, describing her as a literary icon whose works have inspired and touched lives around the world.
“Ms Adichie is a cultural and literary figure who has brought joy and light to many homes globally,” Tinubu said, praying that she and her family would find solace in God during this difficult time.
