President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Otunba Adekunle Ojora, a prominent industrialist, business leader, and community figure, who died at the age of 93.
In a statement released by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu extended his condolences to the Lagos State Government, the immediate family of the deceased, the Ojora and Adele royal families, and his business associates.
The President described Ojora as a man whose life was marked by humility, resilience, and dedication, noting that these qualities underpinned his achievements in journalism, public service, and the private sector.
Ojora, who trained as a journalist at Regent Polytechnic in London, began his professional career in the early 1950s as an assistant editor at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). After returning to Nigeria, he worked as a reporter with the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation before transitioning into the business sector.
He later joined the United Africa Company of Nigeria (UAC), rising rapidly through the ranks to become the company’s Public Relations Manager and, by 1962, one of the youngest executive directors in the conglomerate’s history.
President Tinubu also highlighted Ojora’s long-standing influence in corporate governance, noting his role as a respected boardroom leader and adviser to both federal and state governments on institutional development and sustainability.
Describing his death as a significant national loss, the President said Nigeria had lost a distinguished figure whose contributions spanned business, media, and traditional institutions.
He prayed for the repose of Ojora’s soul and for strength and comfort for his family and associates.
