President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Dr Adewale Bashir Adeniyi, on his 60th birthday, celebrated on January 19.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Adeniyi’s 60th birthday as a significant milestone, reflecting decades of dedication, hard work, and commitment to national service.
The president praised the Customs chief for initiating landmark reforms that have repositioned the Nigerian Customs Service for more efficient service delivery. He noted that under Adeniyi’s leadership, the Service has recorded improvements in revenue generation, strengthened community relations, and enhanced international trade cooperation.
Tinubu also highlighted Adeniyi’s role in transforming the NCS into a globally competitive institution, an effort recognised with Adeniyi’s election as Chairman of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) in June 2025.
According to the statement, the president commended the Comptroller-General for positively projecting Nigeria and Africa on the global stage through what he described as inclusive, practical, and charismatic leadership at the WCO.
As Adeniyi marks his 60th birthday, the President prayed for renewed strength, good health, and wisdom to enable him to continue serving the nation effectively.
