Nollywood producer and blogger Ajemba Stanley Chibueze, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, has commented on reports claiming that actress Angela Okorie was recently detained by police.
On Wednesday, January 28, multiple online reports suggested that Angela had been arrested by fellow actress Mercy Johnson over allegations of cyberbullying. The reports stated that operatives from the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre in Abuja apprehended her at her Lagos residence on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. This information was shared by journalist and BON Awards founder, Seun Oloketuyi, on his Instagram account.
Oloketuyi wrote:
“Angela Okorie was arrested yesterday at her Lagos residence by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre, Abuja. She was put on a 6 a.m. flight to Abuja this morning to face court proceedings connected to a cybercrime matter involving Mercy Johnson.”
The incident follows Mercy Johnson’s recent warning that cyberbullying her and her family would no longer be tolerated in 2026, after she previously withdrew charges against a TikTok user.
In response, Stanley Ontop took to Instagram to call for Angela Okorie’s release, urging those responsible for her arrest to instead seek legal action through proper courts.
He wrote:
“I will be in Abuja tomorrow for Angela Okorie’s matter. Whoever is in charge should be careful because the Human Rights Watch is watching you.”
