Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday commissioned the Tudun Biri Resettlement Scheme in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, marking the fulfilment of a pledge made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rebuild the community following a military drone misfire that claimed lives and displaced residents about two years ago.
The resettlement project comprises 133 completed housing units, educational facilities and other supporting infrastructure. It was executed under the Resettlement Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflict (RSPIC), a Federal Government initiative aimed at restoring communities affected by humanitarian crises.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony in Kaduna, Shettima described the project as a demonstration of the Tinubu administration’s commitment to responsive and compassionate governance.

He noted that the resettlement scheme reflected an approach to leadership centred on healing communities, protecting human dignity and strengthening national stability.
According to the vice president, the intervention serves as a practical assurance that the Nigerian state will not abandon its citizens in times of adversity.
He said the project was designed to restore stability, rebuild livelihoods and create conditions for lasting peace for families whose lives were disrupted by the incident.
Shettima recalled that he visited Tudun Biri in December 2023 on the directive of President Tinubu to console victims and announce plans for the resettlement programme.

He later returned in July 2024 to perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction of the community.
