Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Conakry, Guinea, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of President-elect Mamady Doumbouya.
Shettima was received on arrival by senior officials of the Guinean government as well as members of the Nigerian diplomatic mission, ahead of the official inauguration ceremony scheduled for Saturday at GLC Stadium, Nongo.
President-elect Doumbouya’s inauguration follows his victory in the December 2025 general elections, marking the conclusion of Guinea’s four-year military transition and the return to constitutional governance.
The vice president’s presence at the ceremony highlights Nigeria’s leadership role within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and its continued support for democratic rule and political stability across the sub-region.
Officials said the visit aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, under which Nigeria has maintained its position as a stabilising force in West Africa, promoting democratic governance as a foundation for regional peace and economic development.
The visit is also expected to strengthen bilateral relations between Nigeria and Guinea, with a focus on expanding economic cooperation and trade ties between the two countries.
