Broadcaster Afolabi Peters Murphy, the host of the radio show Obiri Laye, has weighed in on the death of gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu, widely known as Omije Ojumi.
In the wake of her passing, old prophecies said to have been made before her death began circulating online, drawing mixed reactions from fans and social media users.
In a video that has since gone viral, Afolabi addressed the issue of prophetic warnings and how people often react to them. He suggested that Omije Ojumi was not the only public figure who allegedly suffered consequences for disregarding such messages.
The radio presenter also referenced the late Samuel Oshoffa, founder of the Celestial Church of Christ, claiming that he ignored a warning against travelling and later died from injuries sustained in a car accident. In addition, Afolabi mentioned gospel singer Aduke Gold, who reportedly passed away in 2024 after battling an illness, as well as another gospel artiste, Egbin Orun, who died in 2025.
According to him, all the individuals he cited were said to have received prophetic cautions that they did not act upon.
Speaking on the importance of responding wisely to such warnings, Afolabi advised that it is better to take them seriously rather than dismiss or argue against them, especially when they become public. He urged people to pray, reflect, and seek help when faced with negative prophecies, even if they are unsure about the source.
The video, shared on Instagram, has since generated reactions from fans and followers. Many commenters offered prayers for the deceased and shared personal experiences, while others stressed the need to treat spiritual matters with seriousness.
