First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has described her selection as Leadership Newspaper’s Person of the Year as a call to intensify her service to Nigerians, saying “there is still more for me to do.”
She spoke while formally receiving the notification of the award during a courtesy visit by the management of Leadership Newspapers, led by its Chairman, Mrs Zainab Nda-Isaiah.
“With this, I am fired up for the year,” she said, adding that her guiding principle remains service to the common man. “I am guided by the scripture which says I can do all things… there is still more for me to do.”
Senator Tinubu noted that her work ethic is influenced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom she described as a hardworking leader.
“I have never seen men as a challenge, but it makes me know that I have to work three times as hard,” she said. “I tell girls all the time to be confident, focused and hardworking to get ahead.”
The First Lady paid tribute to the late founder of the Leadership Group, Mr Sam Nda-Isaiah, describing him as a man of integrity, and commended the newspaper’s management for sustaining his legacy.
In her remarks, Mrs Zainab Nda-Isaiah said the decision to name Senator Tinubu as Person of the Year 2025 was unanimous, citing the impact of her interventions through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) since the beginning of President Tinubu’s administration in 2023.
Senior Vice Chairman of the Group, Mr Azu Ishiekwene, said the First Lady had redefined the role of the Office of the First Lady, turning it into a platform for leadership, compassion and national impact beyond ethnic, religious or political considerations.
