A former two-term member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Abiodun Ogunbi, has commended the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for what he described as impactful leadership at the ministry.
Ogunbi, popularly known as Onireason, said in a New Year message that the minister’s performance in 2025 reflected effective governance and a clear understanding of public service delivery.
He said Tunji-Ojo’s leadership had brought notable changes to passport administration, pointing to the clearance of long-standing backlogs and the rollout of contactless biometric processes nationwide.
The former lawmaker also highlighted the expansion of passport offices across the country, noting that the reforms had eased access for Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
Ogunbi praised security-related initiatives under the ministry, including the introduction of electronic gates and the establishment of Civil Defence Mining Marshals to tackle emerging threats.
According to him, the Nigeria Immigration Service processed more than 300,000 passport applications within a short period, a development he said helped rebuild public trust.
He also lauded improved inter-agency collaboration, better welfare for personnel and the approval for the recruitment of 30,000 officers into paramilitary services, describing the steps as critical to strengthening internal security.
