Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reiterated his commitment to good governance devoid of ethnicity, favouritism and nepotism.
The governor gave the assurance on Sunday at the Uyo Catholic Diocesan New Year Fasting and New Evangelization Outreach Assembly held at the Cardinal Ekandem Seminary Ground, Dominic Utuk Avenue, Uyo.
Eno said the welfare and security of the state and its citizens would continue to enjoy top priority, assuring residents of more impactful projects across all parts of the state in the new year.
“We will continue to provide adequate security, protection, welfare and projects that will positively impact our people. We will leave no local government area behind and will not govern on the basis of ethnicity or who you know,” the governor said.
He commended the Catholic Church for its consistent prayers and support, expressing deep respect for the institution and acknowledging the spiritual guidance of the Catholic Archbishop of Calabar, Archbishop Joseph Ekuwem.
The governor said his presence at the service was to fellowship with members of the church and to wish them, as well as the people of Akwa Ibom State, a happy new year.
Eno also advised young people to show respect to leaders, urging critics to be constructive and solution-oriented rather than resorting to insults, noting that leadership comes with enormous responsibilities.
In his homily, the Catholic Bishop of Uyo, Most Rev. John Ayah, urged Christians to trust in God for positive change in the new year, commended Governor Eno’s leadership, and assured him that his good works would speak for him ahead of the 2027 election.
