Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has assured residents that his administration will continue the execution of critical infrastructure projects across the state in 2026.
The governor gave the assurance on Thursday during his New Year statewide radio and television broadcast, where he highlighted major road projects captured in the 2026 budget.
According to Diri, the projects include phase one of the Nembe–Brass and Ekeremor–Agge roads, as well as the Akaba–Ogu–Okodi, Oporoma–Ondewari, Angiama–Eniwari–Fonibiri and several other key routes, which he described as vital to connectivity and development.
He said the faithful implementation of the 2026 budget, christened “Assured Prosperity 2,” would ensure the successful execution of the projects.
Reflecting on 2025, Diri noted that the year recorded significant milestones, including the commencement of the nine-storey state secretariat complex, the 30,000-seat stadium, and major facilities at the Niger Delta University.
The governor also disclosed that the 630-metre Angiama bridge was nearing completion, while the state was set to inaugurate its 60-megawatt independent power project.
However, he expressed sadness over the loss of the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, describing his passing as a painful moment that tested the collective faith of the state.
As Bayelsa steps into 2026, Diri committed the state to God’s guidance, declared 2 Thessalonians 3:3 as the Covenant Verse for the year, and urged residents to remain thankful and steadfast.
