Vice-President Kashim Shettima on Friday arrived at the Unyime Idem Empowerment Centre in the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State to inaugurate a major economic support initiative under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Vice-President was warmly received by senior government officials led by the state’s Deputy Governor, Senator Dr Akon Eyakenyi.
The visit marked the official launch and presentation of cheques to 1,000 beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Initiative One Billion Naira Family-Based Business Grant, a federal intervention aimed at boosting grassroots entrepreneurship.
Each selected family is expected to receive seed funding to either establish a small business or expand an existing enterprise, with the programme designed to stimulate local economic activity and reduce poverty.
The event drew grassroots leaders, community stakeholders and members of the federal and state administrations, who gathered to witness what officials described as a significant push towards inclusive economic empowerment across the region.
