The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, says the promotion of accurate information, public orientation, and responsible governance remains central to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Idris stated this on Friday during a courtesy visit by the Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), led by its 61st President, Mallam Haruna N. Yahaya, at the Radio House in Abuja.
The minister commended ICAN for its decades-long contribution to Nigeria’s institutional and economic development, noting that its growing membership and professional standards continue to strengthen the country’s financial systems.
He assured the delegation that the Tinubu administration remains committed to transparency, accountability, and institutional reforms, adding that the President’s background as an accountant further reinforces the government’s drive for credible governance.
Idris urged ICAN to support the administration’s ongoing reforms, particularly as Nigeria prepares to implement new tax policies in January 2026. He called on the Institute to use its influence in the financial sector to promote public understanding and compliance.
The minister welcomed ICAN’s proposals for collaboration, saying the Ministry looks forward to working with the body to enhance public communication, improve financial literacy, deepen professionalism in government institutions, and build public trust.
He also praised ICAN’s commitment to stakeholder engagement, describing it as essential to national development.
