President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deploying all military and law enforcement assets to combat security threats and protect lives and property across the country.
The president announced the procurement of mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles, a new armoured fleet, and the refurbishment of more than 100 Armoured Fighting Vehicles for the Nigerian Armed Forces.
He made this known on Monday in Ojuelegba, Lagos State, while declaring open the 2025 Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference.
Speaking at Nebo Hall, Abalti Barracks, through Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu said security remains a central pillar of his Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that national development is impossible without safety and stability.
“There is no nation that can achieve greatness without security. This government remains resolute in mobilising all military and law enforcement assets to eliminate security threats and protect the lives and property of all Nigerians,” the President said.
He noted that the federal government is committed to modernising the Armed Forces through enhanced training, improved equipment, and greater operational capacity. According to him, recent efforts include the induction of helicopters into Nigerian Army Aviation, the training of pilots, and the ongoing acquisition of additional armoured and patrol vehicles to improve troop protection and battlefield effectiveness.
Tinubu added that over 100 armoured fighting vehicles had been refurbished and returned to active service, describing the move as a clear demonstration of the administration’s resolve to strengthen the army’s operational readiness.
The president also disclosed that the government is expanding defence partnerships with friendly nations to promote research, innovation, and indigenous production, with the long-term goal of achieving self-reliance in defence and security.
