Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA), has praised the administration of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, describing the state as one of the most peaceful in Nigeria.
Ribadu made the remarks on Monday during a visit to Rivers State, where he led a federal government delegation as part of ongoing peace efforts aimed at resuming oil operations in Ogoniland. The delegation included the Minister of Works, David Umahi; the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Bayo Ojulari; the Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal; and top security officials.
Speaking during the visit, Ribadu said the team was in the state as representatives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to express appreciation for the cooperation received from the Rivers State Government and the people of Ogoniland.
He noted that collaboration between federal and state authorities had helped address long-standing challenges, particularly in Ogoniland, adding that Rivers State had recorded significant improvements in peace and stability.
According to the NSA, the progress recorded in Ogoniland could mark a turning point for Nigeria’s future, describing the area as a symbol of renewed hope, development, and national transformation. He credited Governor Fubara’s leadership for providing an enabling environment that made the progress possible.
Ribadu also conveyed President Tinubu’s gratitude to the Rivers State Government and the people of Ogoniland for their understanding and cooperation, noting that issues which had persisted for decades were now being transformed into opportunities for national growth.
Meanwhile, on September 24, President Tinubu posthumously awarded the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) to Albert Badey, Edward Kobani, Theophilus Orage, and Samuel Orage, collectively known as the “Ogoni Four.”
