Actress Regina Daniels’ mother, Rita Daniels, has resurfaced on social media days after reports circulated that she lost the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) presidential election.
On Tuesday, December 9, Rita posted a video on her official Instagram page showing her engaging in charity work. In the clip, she was seen handing out what looked like food items to children from the trunk of a car. She also expressed gratitude to God, writing:
“Thank you, God, for all you have done. May your name alone be praised. Hallelujah!”
Reports indicate that Rita was defeated in the AGN presidential race held on Saturday, December 6, during the Guild’s annual general meeting in Benin, Edo State. The winner, AGN National Secretary Abubakar Yakubu, garnered 116 votes, while Rita secured 113 votes, with three ballots declared invalid.
Yakubu’s victory is historic, as he becomes the first actor from Northern Nigeria to lead the Guild since its inception in the 1990s.
Rita’s reported electoral loss follows recent comments by former AGN president Emeka Rollas, who suggested that Regina Daniels needed her mother’s support and urged Rita to focus on her daughter’s well-being instead of contesting the election.
