At a meeting held at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, representatives of the PSC, the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Police Affairs, and the Federal Character Commission discussed measures to ensure a transparent and credible recruitment exercise.

The PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), represented by DIG Taiwo Lakanu, said the Commission was committed to a process guided by fairness, merit, and national inclusiveness.

Lakanu, who chairs the PSC Standing Committee on Police Matters, said the recruitment would strengthen the capacity of the Police Force while reflecting Nigeria’s diversity.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Anuma Ogbonnaya, who led the ministry’s delegation, expressed confidence in the collaboration between agencies.

Key agreements reached during the meeting included strict adherence to federal character provisions, deliberate efforts to encourage the recruitment of qualified female applicants, and reliance on a transparent, technology-driven process accessible to the public.

The meeting, held on Tuesday, 2 December, ended with a commitment by all the agencies involved to maintain the integrity of the recruitment process and ensure it meets public expectations.

The PSC said further details on the recruitment timeline would be released in due course.
