Professor Yilwatda made the remarks on Sunday during a courtesy visit to the governor at the Government House, Gombe, as part of his engagements with party leaders and stakeholders. He said his tour of the state reinforced his confidence in Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s leadership, highlighting completed and ongoing projects, including quality roads, functional healthcare facilities, a modest airport, and impressive educational institutions.
He also praised the governor for expanding the APC’s political base by including members from other parties and sustaining harmony among diverse religious and social groups. “Today, I see genuine harmony, with people of different faiths working together within one political platform without segregation,” he said.
Professor Yilwatda described Governor Inuwa Yahaya as a progressive leader, a unifier, and an advocate of fairness and equity, urging him to sustain the momentum with more people-oriented projects. He also assured the people of Gombe State that the APC-led federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to economic recovery and national security.
Responding, Governor Inuwa Yahaya reiterated Gombe State’s loyalty to the APC, declaring it a stronghold of the party and expressing confidence in its prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections. “Gombe remains firmly APC. Our party is accommodating, inclusive, and development-driven,” he stated.
Recalling the party’s growth in the state since 2019, the governor highlighted APC’s rising legislative strength, increasing from 19 to 22 members in the Gombe State House of Assembly, and assured that the party’s dominance will continue beyond his tenure.
He noted that recent defections to the APC in states like Taraba signal a broader national realignment and praised unity among northern governors, likening it to the legacy of the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya also commended President Tinubu for his tolerance and inclusive leadership, noting that Gombe State remains a model of peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims. He assured continued support for the APC-led federal government, emphasising the state’s commitment to peace, unity, and development.
