Ahead of the presentation, a formal communication from the presidency is expected to be read on the floor of the House of Representatives when plenary resumes on Thursday to notify lawmakers and National Assembly staff of the president’s appearance.
A letter dated December 17, 2025, sighted on Wednesday by Western Post, confirmed the planned presentation. The letter was signed by the Secretary, Human Resources and Staff Development, Essien Eyo Essien, on behalf of the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana.
The letter was also copied to the Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly and heads of departments, directing them to make necessary arrangements ahead of the president’s address.
The annual budget presentation is a key constitutional responsibility, outlining the federal government’s proposed expenditure and revenue framework for the 2026 fiscal year.
The joint session is expected to be attended by members of the Senate and House of Representatives, senior government officials and other invited guests.
