President Bola Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to two prominent political allies and statesmen, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Prince Segun Adesegun, as they mark their milestone birthdays.
In a message marking Dr Ganduje’s 76th birthday on Thursday, President Tinubu described the former Kano State governor as an astute politician and accomplished administrator who has devoted over five decades to public service.
Dr Ganduje has served in various capacities, including as a senior administrator in the Federal Capital Territory, Commissioner for Works in Kano State, two-term Deputy Governor, and two-term Governor of Kano State. He currently chairs the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
The president expressed deep appreciation for Dr Ganduje’s friendship, collaboration, and contributions to the APC, praying for continued good health and strength to enable him to render further service to Nigeria and humanity.
Similarly, President Tinubu congratulated Prince Segun Adesegun on his 70th birthday, celebrated on December 26. He joined family, friends, and associates in celebrating the former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, who is also an ambassador-designate.
Prince Adesegun has served Ogun State as Commissioner for Works and Housing on two occasions and as a legislator. President Tinubu highlighted his long-standing leadership qualities, from his days as a student leader at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in the 1970s, to his consistent role in Nigerian politics since the 1990s.
The president recalled Prince Adesegun’s courage and patriotism during the struggle for the validation of the June 12, 1993 presidential mandate of the late Chief MKO Abiola, noting that he risked his life in the fight for democracy.
He further commended his contributions to the progressive movement and the successes of the APC in Ogun State and beyond since 2015.
