President Bola Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to two distinguished Nigerians, Prof. Segun Gbadegesin and Chief Bisi Olatilo, as they celebrate significant birthdays on December 20.
The president lauded Prof. Segun Gbadegesin on his 80th birthday, highlighting his longstanding contributions to philosophy, education, and democratic governance in Nigeria.
Tinubu described Gbadegesin as a fearless scholar and democratic activist whose efforts were pivotal in the fight for the country’s return to democratic rule, including his recognition of the June 12 presidential election winner in the 1990s, undertaken at personal risk.
“Professor Gbadegesin’s knowledge, insight, and wisdom have left a lasting legacy in academia and governance. His dedication to research, teaching, and mentorship has shaped generations of students and colleagues,” the president said. He prayed for Gbadegesin’s continued health, strength, and wisdom to serve the nation.
In the same spirit, President Tinubu also felicitated veteran broadcaster Chief Bisi Olatilo on his 72nd birthday.
Recognised as a media icon, Olatilo has made lasting contributions to broadcast journalism in Nigeria and remains influential through the Bisi Olatilo Show and his media company, Biscon Communications.
“Otunba Bisi, at 72, you have become an institution and a widely respected voice in Nigeria’s media landscape. Your dedication to professionalism, promotion of Nigerian arts and culture, and mentorship continue to enrich national development,” Tinubu said, wishing Olatilo good health, renewed strength, and many more years of impactful service.
