Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo has sparked widespread debate online after sharing his opinion about what he described as a “shortage of quality men” in Nigeria today.
The clergyman, known for his teachings on relationships, shared his views on modern relationships in a post on his X page.
He began with a statement that immediately caught attention:
“Ladies and gentlemen we have a crisis! I’m very concerned about the quality of men out there these days.”
In his post, Pastor Okonkwo expressed concern about the growing gap between men and women in terms of quality, suggesting that this makes it harder for women to find solid men suitable for marriage.
He also claimed that many men today struggle with leadership and responsibility, adding that “a lot of men he sees can’t lead or marry the women of this generation.”
The pastor pointed out that social changes have increased the demands on men in modern relationships, sparking a broader conversation online about standards and roles.
He also discussed marriage structures, noting that there are three kinds of marriage, which he described as God’s original design. Pastor Okonkwo highlighted that cultural marriage once thrived in Africa, stating that it worked because women had limited access to education and most did not work.
He added that men often married with wide age gaps, which, in his view, made submission easier. Acknowledging that times have changed, he wrote that it is now a tougher scenario for men of this generation and concluded that many women may not see eligible men to marry.
