The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to embrace peaceful coexistence and national unity, describing harmony as a foundation for prosperity and sustainable nation-building.
She made the call in Kaduna on Tuesday during the annual distribution of food items to beneficiaries under the Christian Northern Nigeria Political Forum (CNNPF), organised to support Christmas and New Year celebrations across the region.
Quoting the Bible, the first lady said unity among citizens attracts divine blessings, urging Nigerians to remain committed to peace despite prevailing national and global challenges. She expressed optimism about the country’s future, noting that positive developments were already unfolding.
Senator Tinubu also commended the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for policies and actions she said have strengthened religious harmony in the state, urging other states to adopt similar approaches.
She stressed that true nation-building could only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect, adding that Nigerians must see themselves as one people, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences. She praised the hospitality of the Kaduna State Government and its people, describing the state as a model of peaceful coexistence.
The first lady further acknowledged the contributions of Nigeria’s creative industry to the country’s global image and encouraged entertainers and cultural ambassadors to partner with government in supporting national development and social causes.
In his remarks, Governor Uba Sani described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the first lady as leaders driven by service, compassion and unity, noting that their approach to governance has helped strengthen social cohesion nationwide. He praised the first lady’s inclusive philanthropy, stressing that her interventions cut across religious, ethnic and regional lines.
Also speaking at the event, Benue State Governor, Rev. Father Hyacinth Alia, and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, expressed confidence that inclusive leadership and ongoing federal and state-level initiatives would lead to sustained peace and improved living conditions for Nigerians in the coming years.
