As Nigerians usher in the New Year, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called on citizens to embrace peace, empathy, and unity, while reaffirming her commitment to the wellbeing of children, women, and the most vulnerable members of society.
In her New Year message titled “2026: Hope on the Horizon,” the First Lady expressed profound gratitude to God for the gift of a new year and praised the resilience, creativity, and determination of Nigerians across the country.
“The past year reaffirmed the enduring spirit of Nigerians—our courage, strength, and unwavering belief in a better tomorrow,” she said, commending citizens who continue to work tirelessly to uplift their families and communities.
She urged Nigerians to use the New Year as an opportunity to foster harmony and compassion, stressing the importance of creating opportunities within their individual spaces that allow every Nigerian to thrive with dignity.
“As we embrace this New Year, let us choose peace, empathy, unity, and continue to invest in the wellbeing of our children, women, and the vulnerable among us,” the First Lady stated, adding that collective investment in Nigeria’s future remains vital.
In the same spirit of national development, Senator Tinubu announced a major milestone in support of education and knowledge preservation. She disclosed that a total sum of N25,520,708,074.35 (Twenty-Five Billion, Five Hundred and Twenty Million, Seven Hundred and Eight Thousand, Seventy-Four Naira, Thirty-Five Kobo) has been raised for the National Library through the Oluremi @65 Education Fund.
The fund was established to mark her 65th birthday on September 21, 2025, with proceeds dedicated to the construction and development of the National Library. She expressed deep appreciation to Nigerians, family members, friends, and well-wishers whose generous contributions made the achievement possible.
“Your support affirms our shared commitment to education, preservation of knowledge, and national development,” she said, noting that the initiative inspired unity and goodwill across the nation.
