The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced that its passport application platform will undergo routine maintenance, a development expected to cause temporary service disruptions.
In a statement issued on Friday, the service said the maintenance exercise will run from Friday to Sunday.
During this period, applicants may experience intermittent service interruptions, slow response times, or limited access to some passport services.
According to the NIS Public Relations Officer, A.S. Akinlabi, the maintenance is necessary to ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of the digital passport system. He added that technical teams are working round the clock to restore full services within the scheduled timeframe.
The service appealed to the public for patience and understanding and advised applicants seeking enquiries or assistance during the maintenance window to contact the NIS support team through its contact centre or official social media platforms.
The development comes days after the NIS activated temporary complaint-response channels on social media following the takedown of some of its support accounts. The service said the interim channels were introduced to maintain uninterrupted engagement with applicants encountering challenges with passport and visa processing.
Applicants were directed to submit complaints via the temporary X handles @InquireAtNaija, @NigImmigration, and @InquireAtNaija_, as well as through Instagram.
