On 2 December 2025, soldiers launched a clearance operation under Operation Zafin Wuta targeting Shiid, Agia, and Tyozua villages in Takum Local Government Area, following credible intelligence on armed groups operating in the Tor-Tser area.
As troops advanced towards the mountainous hideouts, bandits fled deeper into the rugged terrain, abandoning their camps. Soldiers conducted thorough searches before destroying the camps, which had previously been considered inaccessible to security forces.
In Tyozua, fleeing bandits set a wooden bridge ablaze in an attempt to hinder troop movement. The soldiers pressed forward, forcing the criminals across the power line into neighbouring Benue State. During the operation, a suspect identified as Dahiru Maigari was arrested and is undergoing preliminary investigation.
On 4 December, troops conducted a fighting patrol around Karim Lamido to deny bandits freedom of movement. While advancing towards Usmanu, soldiers came under fire from armed criminals concealed near Wudompi Community but repelled the attack, neutralising two armed men. A subsequent search led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and 21 rounds of ammunition, with no casualties reported among the troops.
The attackers are believed to be members of the Karimjo faction attempting to regroup in the area. Security within Karim Lamido remains calm, with troops maintaining heightened alertness.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, commended the professionalism and gallantry of the troops, emphasising that no terrain is inaccessible to the Nigerian Army and no criminal enclave is beyond reach.
He assured residents of Taraba State that the Brigade remains resolute in pursuing criminals wherever they may flee and will sustain pressure until all threats to peace are eliminated.
