In a statement, the NAF said the aircraft experienced a technical fault shortly after take-off, prompting the pilots to respond promptly.
“Demonstrating exceptional skill, they manoeuvred the aircraft away from populated areas before executing a safe ejection. The crew is currently undergoing routine medical evaluation,” it read.
Reacting to the incident, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, praised the pilots for their courage, discipline, and sound judgement, which prevented any loss of life.
He also directed the immediate establishment of a Board of Inquiry to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
