This followed a courtesy visit by the NDLEA Strategic Command, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, to the Customs Area Command on Thursday, 11 December 2025. The visit was led by the NDLEA Commander of Narcotics, Samuel Namallam.
In a statement signed on Friday, 12 December 2025, by the Public Relations Officer of the FCT Area Command, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I Misbahu Bala, the engagement was described as an opportunity for both agencies to deepen cooperation against emerging security threats across the territory.
Speaking during the visit, the Customs Area Controller, FCT Command, Comptroller Victoria Aliboh, described the engagement as a positive step towards reinforcing the longstanding partnership between the Nigeria Customs Service and the NDLEA. She noted that both agencies play complementary roles in securing the nation’s borders, airports and communities.
Comptroller Aliboh stressed the need for enhanced synergy in tackling drug trafficking, smuggling and other cross-border crimes, expressing concern over the growing impact of drug abuse on young people. She commended the NDLEA for its sustained efforts in drug interdiction and public sensitisation.
She further called for deeper cooperation through joint training programmes, capacity-building initiatives and the sharing of operational experiences, while urging the NDLEA to provide regular activity reports to support coordinated security strategies within the FCT.
Responding, Commander Namallam praised the FCT Area Command for its professionalism and contributions to national security, particularly in intelligence sharing, cargo profiling and operational support.
He reaffirmed the NDLEA’s readiness to expand joint operations, improve information-sharing mechanisms and strengthen capacity-building efforts, while proposing monthly coordination meetings to enhance security at the airport and across the FCT.
