The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has appointed Deputy Comptroller Najeem Akanmu Ogundeyi as the Acting Area Controller of the Kwara Area Command, following the formal handover by the outgoing Controller, Comptroller Faith Mathew Ojeifo.
The leadership transition took place on Tuesday, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Customs, S. M. Suleiman.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Comptroller Ojeifo expressed appreciation to officers and men of the Command, sister security agencies, and stakeholders for their cooperation throughout his tenure. He said the collaborative efforts contributed to achievements recorded in revenue generation, enforcement, and service delivery.
Ojeifo urged personnel of the Command to extend full support and loyalty to the new Acting Area Controller, expressing confidence in Ogundeyi’s capacity to sustain progress.
In his remarks, Ogundeyi thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the management of the Service for the confidence reposed in him, describing the appointment as a call to greater responsibility.
The Acting Area Controller commended his predecessor’s leadership and pledged to uphold professionalism, discipline, and transparency while consolidating existing gains. He also called for continued cooperation from officers and men of the command to address emerging challenges.
The NCS added that the appointment highlights its commitment to continuity and effective service delivery at the Kwara Area Command.
