President Bola Tinubu has applauded Nigeria’s security agencies for securing the release of 100 students abducted from Papiri Catholic School in Niger State, describing the development as a significant relief for the nation.
The students, kidnapped on November 21, were freed following what authorities described as coordinated security operations. While celebrating the breakthrough, President Tinubu urged security operatives to intensify efforts to rescue the remaining 115 students and teachers who are still in captivity.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President expressed solidarity with the parents and the Niger State government, assuring them that the Federal Government remains fully committed to the safe return of every abducted victim.
“I rejoice with Governor Umar Bago and commend our security agencies for their steadfast work in ensuring the safe return of the students to their families,” the President said.
He emphasized that his directive to all security formations remains unchanged: every abducted Nigerian must be accounted for and safely reunited with their families. According to him, the Federal Government will continue to collaborate with state governments to protect schools and create a safer learning environment nationwide.
Tinubu also issued a stern instruction to the security services and state governors to adopt stronger preventive measures, stressing that schoolchildren must no longer be vulnerable targets for terrorists seeking to disrupt education and inflict trauma on families.
