Idris received the award on Wednesday in Abuja at a ceremony attended by heads of ministries, departments and agencies. He attributed the honour to the collective work of the ministry and its agencies.
He asserted that the ministry has, over the last two years, focused on redefining Nigeria’s national communication architecture to promote transparency, professionalism and citizen-centred governance.
The minister noted that his leadership has advanced reforms to strengthen the integrity of the country’s information ecosystem by promoting media responsibility, ethical standards and public accountability.
He highlighted the establishment of the UNESCO Category 2 Media and Information Literacy Institute in Abuja, described as the first of its kind globally, as a major milestone in building an informed and resilient information environment.
Idris pledged continued efforts to deepen reforms and strengthen public communication channels for a more transparent information space.
He urged Nigerians to remain confident in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, citing achievements such as Nigeria’s exit from the FATF grey list, the oversubscription of the Eurobond, improved GDP performance and declining inflation.
Other award recipients included the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu; Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; and several heads of agencies. Former President Goodluck Jonathan was represented by former Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim.
