President Bola Tinubu on Friday joined Muslim faithful at the Lekki Central Mosque in Lagos to observe Juma’at prayers, where the officiating imam urged him to remain steadfast in pursuing his vision for the country despite prevailing challenges and criticism.
In his sermon, the visiting imam, Dr Salahudeen Munirudeen Arriyadhi, commended the President for what he described as ongoing developmental efforts by the administration. He advised President Tinubu not to be distracted by opposition or public criticism, noting that it is impossible to satisfy everyone at the same time.
Quoting from the Qur’an, Dr Arriyadhi said Allah favours leaders who listen to the concerns of their people and respond to their needs, while warning against leadership that ignores the plight of the governed. He assured the President of continued prayers for success.
“We are praying for you, and you will succeed,” the imam said.
The sermon, themed “Unity in Diversity” and “Remembering the Day of Judgement”, emphasised that human diversity in tribe, religion, language, colour and nationality is divinely ordained. Dr Arriyadhi said such differences should be seen as a source of strength and harmony rather than division.
“Diversity is a sign of Allah’s wisdom. If Allah had wanted mankind to be one, He would have created them as one. Diversity in religion and tribe should not be a source of problems,” he stated.
