The Ifelodun Local Government Authority has expressed satisfaction over the successful recovery of a security van earlier deployed to support vigilante operations within the area.
The Chairman of the council, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, said the vehicle was recovered in Auchi, Edo State, by personnel of the Nigerian Army, following sustained efforts by the local government in collaboration with relevant security agencies.
According to the council, the van was provided as part of measures to strengthen coordinated security operations aimed at curbing the activities of violent criminal gangs in parts of Ifelodun Local Government Area.
However, after the withdrawal of the vigilante operatives, efforts to retrieve the vehicle proved unsuccessful, prompting the council to formally report the matter to the appropriate security authorities.
Reacting to the development, the council commended the Nigerian Army for its vigilance, professionalism and dedication, noting that their intervention led to the successful recovery of the vehicle.
The local government also acknowledged the support of other national security institutions in ongoing efforts to sustain peace and stability across Kwara State, citing recent security successes within the region.
Hadji Yusuf reaffirmed the commitment of the Ifelodun Local Government Authority to continued collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders to ensure the safety of lives and property within its jurisdiction.
