The Kwara Inclusion Advocates (KIA), a civil society organisation, has commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his Christmas message, in which he felicitated Christians in the state and acknowledged their consistent support, understanding, solidarity, and commitment to peaceful coexistence.
Speaking on behalf of the group’s Convener, Barr. Tunji Adeyemi, the Coordinator of KIA, Rev. Felix Ajide, described the governor’s message as reassuring, adding that Christmas also provides an opportunity for reflection on inclusion and reciprocity in governance.
“We appreciate the Governor’s recognition of the Christian community’s loyalty and contributions to the peace and progress of Kwara State. However, true inclusion goes beyond commendation; it must be reflected in fair access to leadership and opportunity,” Ajide said.
He emphasised that Christians in Kwara are not peripheral stakeholders but an integral part of the state’s social, economic, and political fabric.
“As discussions ahead of 2027 gradually emerge, it is neither divisive nor unreasonable to advocate for the removal of systemic barriers that have historically limited the emergence of a competent Christian as governor. This approach, already practised in other plural states, strengthens unity rather than undermines it,” he added.
Ajide noted that, as leader of the ruling party in the state, Governor AbdulRazaq is well positioned to encourage a more inclusive political culture that reflects Kwara’s diversity.
The statement reaffirmed KIA’s commitment to peaceful advocacy, unity, and an inclusive Kwara, where every community enjoys a genuine sense of belonging.
KIA extended warm wishes to all Kwarans for a Merry Christmas and a New Year anchored on justice, inclusion, and shared progress.
