Governor Eno delivered the Convocation Lecture at the 7th Convocation Ceremony of Mountain Top University (MTU), Ibafo, Ogun State, stressing that the modern world, shaped by technological advancement and shifting values, demands creativity, courage, and a willingness to challenge long-held norms.
He cautioned youths against entitlement mentalities and the pursuit of easy success, emphasising that sustainable achievement is rooted in discipline, passion, and consistent effort. He encouraged graduands to start small, build strong character, and dare to be different in their approach.
Drawing from his personal journey as a pastor, entrepreneur, and governor, Eno recounted how the death of his father, a police officer, compelled him to support his family by hawking soft drinks while attending Victory High School, Ikeja, in the early 1980s. He said this experience laid the foundation for his entrepreneurial spirit.
The governor credited his success to honesty, integrity, and faith in God, noting that divine guidance and “destiny helpers” played a key role in his rise. He stressed that success requires ethical conduct, humility, and perseverance.
Highlighting his administration’s social initiatives, Eno said Akwa Ibom State has built over 335 fully furnished homes for widows and the vulnerable, provided monthly stipends to elderly citizens, and introduced food vouchers for the most needy, among other welfare programmes.
Professor Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, Chancellor of MTU and General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, lauded the governor for inspiring the graduands and delivering a values-driven message. Vice-Chancellor Professor Elijah Adebowale Ayolabi also commended Governor Eno for his stimulating lecture.
The convocation ceremony awarded degrees to 282 undergraduates, including 42 First Class graduates, alongside 64 Postgraduate Diploma and Master’s degree holders, and nine doctoral graduates.
