The fraud claims made by singer Peter Okoye against his brother, Jude Okoye, saw a new development last week as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) stated that it has no evidence to support the allegations against the talent manager.
Jude Okoye, who previously managed the now-defunct music group Psquare, was taken to court by his younger brother, Peter, who accused him of diverting Psquare funds into accounts under his control.
Jude spent over two months in EFCC custody before being granted bail while court proceedings continued.
According to a report by Punch newspaper, the court convened on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja. During cross-examination, EFCC representative Mohammed Bashir said the commission had no evidence to prove that Jude Okoye defrauded Psquare of $800,000.
Bashir emphasized that Peter would need to provide evidence for his claim, as the EFCC cannot present proof that it does not possess.
The legal battle began in 2024 when Jude and his company, Northside Music Limited, were accused of allegedly misappropriating $1 million and £34,000 in royalties from digital music distribution and publishing linked to Psquare.
EFCC reports indicated that Jude and Northside Music Limited allegedly converted $767,544.15 paid by Lex Records Limited for digital distribution, intending to permanently withhold Peter’s share. Jude was granted bail of N50 million on March 6, 2025.
Tensions escalated when their elder brother, Paul, sided with Jude and unfollowed Peter on social media. Paul publicly supported Jude, distanced himself from Peter, and the twins’ joint music activities ceased. Paul also shared cryptic posts seemingly directed at Peter.
The disagreement has also affected their families. Peter’s wife, Lola, reportedly bonded with Paul’s ex-wife, Anita Okoye, as both women were seen taking photos and going on outings together, reflecting the personal impact of the ongoing feud.
