President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring religious freedom in Nigeria and protecting citizens of all faiths from violence, declaring that the security, unity, and stability of the nation remain a top priority of his government.
In his 2025 Christmas goodwill message to Nigerians on Wednesday, the President said his government remains steadfast in upholding the constitutional right of all Nigerians to live, worship, and pursue their aspirations in safety and dignity, regardless of their religious beliefs or ethnicity.
“As your President, I remain committed to doing everything within my power to enshrine religious freedom in Nigeria and to protect all people of different faiths from violence,” Tinubu said.
He stressed that since assuming office in 2023, he has consistently reassured Nigerians of an unyielding commitment to safeguarding national security, unity, and stability, adding that this resolve remains firm under God and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The President warned that no Nigerian should be made to suffer for professing or practising his or her faith, noting that love for God and humanity is a shared value across all major religions and should continue to bind the country together as one people.
Tinubu also disclosed that throughout the year, he has engaged leaders of Nigeria’s major faiths amid concerns over religious intolerance and insecurity, pledging to build on those engagements to strengthen collaboration between government and religious institutions in preventing conflict and promoting peaceful coexistence.
While wishing Christians in Nigeria and around the world a Merry Christmas, the President prayed for peace in the country, especially among people of different religious beliefs, and urged Nigerians to reflect on the message of Jesus Christ as the Prince of Peace.
He further called on citizens travelling during the festive season to exercise patience and discipline on the roads, wishing them safe journeys.
