In his Christmas message, Governor Yahaya noted that the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ provides an important moment for reflection on virtues that unite humanity, regardless of faith or background. He called on the people of Gombe to continue to cherish and promote peaceful coexistence.
Highlighting the state as a model of interfaith harmony, he noted that people of diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds live and work together in mutual respect and understanding.
“This festive season reminds us of the power of love, compassion, and selflessness, virtues that are central to the teachings of Jesus Christ. These values are also essential for sustaining peace, unity, and harmony in our dear state and our nation,” he stated.
As chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, the governor urged Christians to use the festive period to pray for peace, unity, stability, and prosperity across the region and Nigeria, especially at a time when collective resilience and shared responsibility are required to tackle economic, security, and social challenges.
Governor Yahaya also called on residents of the state to continue supporting government efforts aimed at improving the wellbeing of the people. He reassured the Christian community of his administration’s commitment to religious tolerance, equity, and inclusion, stressing that all segments of society will continue to be involved in the ongoing transformation of Gombe.
He further highlighted the administration’s tradition of providing practical support to communities during festive periods to ease the burden of celebration, promoting solidarity and shared joy.
The governor wished Christians in the state and beyond a peaceful, joyous, and fulfilling Christmas, while urging all citizens to recommit themselves to the ideals of unity, brotherhood, and peaceful coexistence for the continued progress of the state.
