According to eyewitness accounts, Chisom was brought to the school hospital conscious and complaining of a stomach ache. Shortly after receiving the injection, Chisom began to experience severe distress and difficulty breathing. She was then placed on oxygen.

Her body reportedly began to turn yellow, her lips became dry and unmoving, and her body grew cold. The doctor on duty arrived and allegedly chased the witnesses out of the care room, transferring Chisom to another room and claiming that they needed to rush her to a hospital outside the school.
