Vice President Kashim Shettima on Wednesday led a federal government delegation to Zaria, Kaduna State, to condole with the minister of environment, Mallam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Dayyabatu Lawal, who passed away at the age of 93.
The vice president, who was received at the Lawal family residence, described the late Hajiya Dayyabatu as a revered matriarch whose passing represents a great loss not only to her family but also to the entire nation.
Shettima stated that the delegation was in the state on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to commiserate with the minister, the Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, and the people of the Zazzau Emirate.
“We are here at the behest of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to commiserate with the honourable minister of environment, Mallam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, over the demise of the matriarch of the family, Hajiya Dayyabatu Lawal,” Shettima said. “May Allah grant her eternal rest, reward her with Aljana Firdaus, and grant her family and the good people of Zazzau Emirate the fortitude to bear the loss.”
The vice president also prayed for continued unity and peace across the Zazzau Emirate, Kaduna State, and Nigeria as a whole.
Before visiting the minister’s family home, Shettima paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Zazzau, where he extended President Tinubu’s condolences to the royal father and the emirate council.
At the palace, the vice president described Hajiya Dayyabatu as a respected mother figure whose life was marked by service, compassion, and faith.
In his response, the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Bamalli, expressed gratitude to the vice president for the visit, commending him for his compassion and exemplary leadership.
