Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Birnin Kebbi as part of a presidential mission to reassure the families of the kidnapped schoolgirls from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, and to brief the Kebbi State government on ongoing rescue efforts.
Shettima, who flew into Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport on Wednesday afternoon, was received by Governor Nasiru Idris, security commanders, and top state officials.
His visit follows President Bola Tinubu’s directive to personally convey the Federal Government’s solidarity and its commitment to securing the release of the abducted students.
Speaking during the visit, the vice president emphasised that the rescue operation remains the government’s highest priority.
“The president has made it clear that bringing these innocent children home safely is our singular, non-negotiable priority. Every security asset has been deployed for their rescue,” he said.
President Tinubu had earlier condemned the abduction, describing it as a “direct attack on Nigeria’s educational system,” and assured that those responsible would be brought to justice.
