Vice-President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Kebbi State following a directive from President Bola Tinubu to engage with state authorities and families of the schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga.
During the visit, Shettima is expected to meet Governor Nasiru Idris, traditional rulers, security chiefs, and parents of the missing students as part of intensified efforts to secure the girls’ release.
On Tuesday, President Tinubu instructed the Vice-President to personally reassure residents that the Federal Government is committed to ensuring the safe and swift return of the abducted schoolgirls. Shettima will also deliver the President’s condolences over recent security breaches in the state and restate the administration’s resolve to strengthen protection for schools nationwide.
The Vice-President is accompanied by several senior government officials, including the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda; the newly appointed Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro; the Minister of Women Affairs, Hon Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim; and the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Hajiya Zubaida Umar.
