Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, has said that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to freeing Nigeria’s natural and economic resources from the grip of illegal foreign exploitation.
Akande, who described the President as focused and reform-driven, said Tinubu is also determined to fortify the country against both internal saboteurs and external forces seeking to undermine its sovereignty.
He made the remarks in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, while delivering a lecture titled “Governance, Structural Reforms and the Economic Landscape of Nigeria in the 21st Century” at the maiden edition of the Joel Babatola Annual Lecture organised by the Ekiti Council of Elders.
Akande said the Tinubu administration’s policies are geared towards human capital development, with particular emphasis on science and technology education aimed at equipping the younger generation for future challenges.
According to him, Tinubu focuses on “strengthening the Nigerian unity against the indigenous retrogressive saboteurs and the neocolonialist grumblers and extricating Nigerian resources from massive illegal foreign exploitations, perhaps and perhaps, at least pending the fury of the threatened invasion from the global powers and international municipalities.”
The former APC chairman explained that the president’s development agenda is anchored on aggressive infrastructure growth, especially in transportation and electricity, in partnership with the private sector and all levels of government.
He said such collaboration would boost agricultural and industrial processing while improving the flow of goods between rural and urban areas.
Akande’s remarks came amid rising global attention on Nigeria, following recent comments credited to United States President Donald Trump, who threatened military intervention over alleged killings of Christians in parts of Northern Nigeria.
