President Bola Tinubu has appointed Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as the Renewed Hope Ambassador ahead of the national rollout of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by presidential adviser Bayo Onanuga, Uzodimma will also serve as the director-general for party outreach, engagement, and mobilisation.
In his new role, the governor, who chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum, will work closely with the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership and fellow governors to promote and coordinate the administration’s policies across the country. He is expected to drive public engagement, ensure unity within the party structure, and strengthen mobilisation efforts nationwide.
APC governors will also serve as Ambassadors of Hope under the outreach framework.
President Tinubu urged Uzodimma and other party leaders to intensify efforts to publicise the administration’s achievements since taking office in May 2023. The statement highlighted government claims of economic improvements, including a reported decline in inflation for seven consecutive months, stabilisation of the exchange rate, rising foreign reserves, increased investor confidence, and growth in both foreign direct and portfolio investments.
The Presidency also cited reforms in the education sector, expanded access to student loans, improved passport processing timelines, and diversification of the economy, particularly through solid minerals.
Tinubu charged the newly appointed ambassador to “ensure that Nigerians are aware of and understand the administration’s achievements,” the statement read.
